The Australian Hotel

About the project.

Constructed in the early 1890’s originally as the Gaiety Theatre and then in 1895 the building become a pub. In 1927 a renovation was completed and it was re-opened as The Australian Hotel. On completion the new Australian Hotel was one of the most modern on the North Coast of NSW, and the fittings and furnishing throughout, “were on a most elaborate scale”. The spacious balconies reportedly contained the largest space of any hotel balcony in NSW, and commanded a view of the river, ocean and town in general. In 2023 the pub had seen better days and we undertook a complete renovation of the amenities and then out into the public bar and gaming room creating a modern and vibrant space.
